Almuth Tebbenhoff German, b. 1949
16 7/8 x 18 7/8 x 18 7/8 in
Tebbenhoff has lived and worked in London since moving from Germany in the 1970s to study ceramics. Her early pieces were abstract, monochrome explorations of space and volume through geometric devices. Since the early nineties, Tebbenhoff has been moving towards a freer mode of expression, creating explosive forms in bright colours through a steady evolution of processes including skilfully welded steel, clay work or carving in marble in Pietra Santa, Italy. Whichever process she uses Tebbenhoff aims to push its boundaries to continue investigating her themes of light, space and the origins of matter.
