"The inspiration for this work came through exhibiting at the Booth Museum in Brighton, an absolute gem of a museum full of Victorian taxidermy, stuffed birds and anatomical specimens. The kestrel was a gift from the museum’s deepfreeze and was dated to the early ’60’s. It’s easy to see the influence of the Booth in the presentation within the glass dome but really the essence of the piece is that of a lure, a horseshoe shaped stuffed leather object with feathers attached. This would be swung in wide circles at the end of a length of cord to attract the falcon." - Steve Dilworth
