'Caged Stone III' is a lovely small work that stems from a series of works where Peter Randall-Page was experimenting with bronze casting and the reaction of molten bronze with naturally formed granite stones. On hitting the cool surface of the stone the molten bronze often cracked the stone with the thermal shock whilst simultaneously cooling to 'cage' the stone.
