Breon O’Casey’s approach to seeing and making art is both poetic and simple, with a philosophy that is rooted in the past and with a fascination with ancient and non-Western art. Unsurprisingly, it is primitive art which most informs Breon O’Casey’s sculpture. Stylised, pared down, loaded with symbolic and spiritual meaning, this abstract figure expresses in the simplest terms a powerful presence beyond its size, capturing expansive ideas in a spare physical form.
