In 1650, the Irish Archbishop James Ussher, used his calculations of the life spans of the old testament patriarchs to determine what he believed to be the exact date of the deluge and of creation itself. According to Ussher's figures, God 's creation of the earth and all life on it, every animal and plant happened on Sunday Oct 23 in 4004BC. Before then according to Ussher, there was nothing.
Ussher himself was seen as a visionary and a luminary and his analyses were therefore added to the appendix of The Bible.
When Charles Darwin came up with the Theory of Evolution, he was castigated and challenged by the church about it, as in some states of USA even today.
Fossils were shown to church elders and they were asked to explain how they could have been millions of years old if the earth was only 'created' in 4004 BC.
The elders returned and proclaimed that the Devil put them on the earth to trick us. Hence the name of this work: 'The Devils Box of Tricks 2'.
Inside is a trilobite species Calymene, from Erfoud in Morocco and is 460 million years old.
