First Impression- Edition of 25 started by the artist in 1950: Nos 2. 4-12 printed on laid paper with small margins
Second Impression- 'C' engraved in corner of plate. 1 artist's proof printed on wove at the RCA for Taranman Gallery in 1976. Nos 14-17 printed by the Print Centre in 1990.
The sculpture relates directly to an iron sculpture , Head (1950). Clarke's design for Edinburgh Weavers 'Dolmen' (1956) included this etching as well as Man, (Cat. 69).
In Clarke's RCA thesis he mentions about this work: 'Head. Indicative of the complexities of the head and surrounded by parts of nature which are indefinable'.
