'Cluster II' is a wall piece which encapsulates Susie MacMurray’s poetic handling of materials and her fascination with forms that sit between the organic and the enigmatic. Using wax, velvet and wire, she creates a sensuous cluster of soft, bulb-like elements that appear to swell or gather, offset by a delicate armature of radiating wire. The tension between fragility and resilience is characteristic of MacMurray’s practice, in which materials carry both visual and emotional charge.

Susie MacMurray is a British artist whose work includes drawing, sculpture and architectural installations. A former classical musician, she retrained as an artist, graduating with an MA in Fine Art in 2001. She lives in Manchester and has an international exhibition profile, showing regularly in the USA and Europe as well as the UK.
