'The ash bowl was made in my studio in Deptford, but the ash is from a willow tree and nettles which were harvested and burnt at the Winchcombe pottery site in the Cotswolds. I spent some time at Winchcombe last year, working with the potters there and giving myself space to learn and grow. The nettle ash was harvested by me and the willow ash was given as a leaving gift. The organic nature of the material means that there is huge variation in the surface and depth of the glaze, as it has pooled towards the middle of the bowl in the heat of the kiln, fluxing and flowing over the surface.'
