However, about the notion of glazing clay, Wason says ‘putting a coat of glass over my clay has never really interested me. The clay itself is the skin of the object, and so I tend it and work with it until it reveals the character that I have in mind for the object in hand.’ The tactility of Wason’s objects enhance an impression of layers of history and culture.Provenance
