Ann Christopher is best known for her sharp, architecturally-inspired linear drawings and sculpture marked by precisely milled and hand-worked finishes. The totemic form and matt black surface of 'Bronze 3' are two distinctive characteristics of Christopher’s work from the late 60s to early 70s, where she named Cycladic Greece and other ancient civilizations as among her early influences. Her later works in some ways overturn this by taking the modern age and projecting it as ancient. 'Bronze 3' is a time capsule from a pivotal epoch in the evolution of Christopher’s sculpture.
