Odyssey

A new newspaper installation by David Mach

David Mach returns for the final of his three solo exhibitions in Scotland this October. this time he is in Dunfermline.

For his latest exhibition, Mach has been commissioned to make a site-specific newspaper installation for the Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries called ‘Odyssey.’ The new work will features a 6 metre long shipping container, groyne wood and shipping buoys.

David says: "Sea containers carry the world's stuff. We make, we produce, we trade. We're obsessed with it. It's in our genes. We use these boxes to hold our ideas and designs. They travel the globe with our history and our culture in one long continuous journey. It's no wonder they appear like Greek temples, their long ribbed sides replicating pillars, their short gable ends holding the doors to the Aladdin's Cave inside."

From October 7th – 12th, visitors are invited to come along and watch Mach and his team construct the installation. The exhibition runs until February 22nd 2020.
