Breon O'Casey British, 1928-2011
2 1/8 x 1/4 in
Breon O’Casey’s jewellery is always unique as he manipulates the precious metals by hand or carves his own beads. The simple geometric shapes of these earrings are much like the refinement of the still lifes and landscapes seen in his paintings and have a timeless ancient yet modern quality.
Breon O’Casey was born in London the son of Irish dramatist Sean O’Casey, and his Celtic roots remained of importance to him as did his father’s artistic leanings and encouragement. He exhibited widely and his work can be found in many permanent collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum which includes a number of examples of his jewellery, the Tate Collection, Kettle’s Yard, Cambridge, Leeds City Art Gallery, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and the Pforzheim Museum, Germany among others.
